Student Voice: Akita£¿¤¤¤¤¿¤¤£¡ – See Wee Sheng VINCENT, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia

See Wee Sheng VINCENT from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia is participating in our exchange program for Fall 2024. We would like to introduce his experience at AIU.

Akita? Where is that? I have never heard of this city in my life.

The fear of wandering through this city had almost made me give up this opportunity.  However, I decided to explore the unknown and I’m glad I made the right choices.

Starting my journey at Akita International University!

I appreciate being involved in the Fall semester exchange student program between Akita International University and Universiti Sains Malaysia, which has opened up a new horizon in my life chapter, and also enriched my image of tan underrated prefecture in Japan- Akita.

Akita International University, a university that contains students from every side of the world has opened my connection to understand other cultures’ differences.

AIU has built up a globalized environment in which focusing on diversity and leadership.

Officially became an AIU student on Matriculation Day!

I’m glad to live in Tsubaki Village and stay with my housemates to share our expressions and differences.
Recently, my friends and I went to the Omagari Firework Festival, and without a doubt the fireworks and drone performances were the best I ever watched!

Besides that, AIU also offered various activities for us to be involved in. Fortunately, I joined a community outreach activity named Oga Sora English Camp to enhance local children’s usage of English and their ambition to step into the world.

I gained precious experience assisting my teammates and the event organizers to make the event successful.

Previously, I joined the Oga Peninsula bus trip to explore the mystery of Namahage (¤Ê¤Þ¤Ï¤²), the demon-like protector spirits. The trip gave me a deep understanding regarding the importance of Namahage in religion, especially in Tohoku.

Above was just a tiny part of my story in AIU and there is still much more to come! I can assure you that this university will keep you amazed!

Be a global leader as in this university, anything is possible!
